Product code: 1/2 lb. (227g) Undyed-Natural - selling Mawata Silk Hankies - Mulberry Silk for Nuno Felting, Spinning, Knitting, Weaving, Textile Arts, Silk Fusion

This listing is for a 1/2 lb. (227g) stack of 100% Mulberry silk hankies that are not dyed.
Also available in 1.0 oz., 1/4 lb. and 1 lb. - see separate listings.

Mulberry a/k/a Mawata Silk Hankies are 100% silk fiber from a silk cocoon that has been degummed and then stretched onto a 10 x 10 square form. The hankies come in a stack of multiple very thin layers that you peel off individually. They are beautiful felted - just place them on top of your design before felting to get a cobweb effect. They can also be spun by stretching the hankie into a big loop and pulling as thin as you want. You can also knit directly from them once stretched - they do not need to be spun. They selling are also used in Textile Arts and silk fusion projects. These hankies can be dyed using acid based dyes.

Hankies may contain darker patches and small particles from the cocoon, and may have a small puncture hole in 1 of the corners - they come this way from the manufacturer in China.

Helpful Hint: When working with silk hankies it may help to wear surgical gloves. Silk fibers LOVE to attach themselves to dry skin or rough fingernails. I find wearing the gloves helps.
