Everything you need to keep your new family heirloom quilt in good shape is right here!
Dreft soap is perfect for baby's things and for your quilts. It's gentle on the fabric fibers, there are no dyes, it's hypoallergenic and gentle on sensitive skin. In this kit, you will receive a 46 oz bottle of Dreft laundry soap.
You will also receive a box of 72 Shout Color Catcher, dye trapping sheets. These sheets will prevent color runs, on your quilt, the first few times you launder it. I do not pre-launder the fabric in my quilts, so it's important to use one of these the first few times you wash your quilt. The Color Catcher sheet traps loose dyes and dirt released during the wash cycle. At the end of the wash, the dye and dirt come out on the Color Catcher sheet, not your quilt.
The last item in the Quilt Care Kit is a set of six, 100% wool dryer balls from Tidy Monster. These dryer balls selling are made with 100% wool from New Zealand. Dryer balls are designed to go into your dryer with your wet laundry. As they tumble around with your new quilt, they create pockets of air between the items and layers of fabric, which aids in the drying process. These air pockets can speed up the drying time by as much as 25%, which will save you energy, thus saving you money!
Another great thing about dryer balls is that they soften fabrics without any chemicals or other additives. The friction that the felted wool produces as it tumbles around with your handmade quilt helps to gently smooth rough fibers and soften fabrics. Fabric softeners (both the liquid kinds and the ones infused into dryer sheets) work by depositing a thin layer of chemical softener onto fabrics, and those layers can build up over time.
