1950s Rare Oriental selling Motif Antique Ticking Fabric BEAUTIFUL Blush Pink Damask Cotton Soft and Delightful Antique European Textile

Very rare light rose pink and white vintage ticking fabric with an oriental motif. It is a European damask fabric from around 1950. This piece, recovered and freshly washed, was part of a mattress cover. This fabric is medium weight cotton. Perfect textile for upholstery projects, cushions, bags, etc. The designs recall the drawings and patterns of French fabrics such as the Toile de Jouy and the Indianas due to the arrangement of the pieces. In this canvas, the motifs are very original: Arab horsemen in battle, dancers, camel riders,… Arab architecture and palm trees frame the scenes.

Some cushions would turn out wonderful - we wouldn't get tired of looking at them! Jacquard stitches have been used to mark the different textures of the lattices of the palaces.

MEASUREMENTS: 104 x 49 cm. ( 40 x 19 in. )

CONDITION:
Distressed. Some prominent signs of wear: may have significant losses, fading or structural issues. Minor color fading or discoloration throughout the piece. Moderate scuffing or surface wear throughout the piece. A significant tear towards the bottom edge. Perfect hand sewn eyelets. One intact selvage. Very nice hand-moldable texture. Specially soft fabric. Despite all these imperfections it is a unique fabric. Maybe not for everyone. Incredibly beautiful and rare!

HISTORY OF TICKING FABRICS: This type of fabrics were used to make mattress covers since 1880. It is a very durable and resistant fabric but at the same time absorbent and breathable. The motifs used are very varied: floral, oriental, country, palatial, or striped and the colors very bright. These fabrics were produced from 1882 to 1980 in the Area of Igualada, known for its textile industry. 

We have a collection of 200+ ticking fabrics that include old never used stock and recovered pieces from antique mattresses. They're unique fabrics. They really are the last ticking fabrics with such genuine and unique characteristics in Europe.
