This handmade clay pot is a great piece of traditional Ukrainian pottery. It was made in Ukraine in the 20s. This particular pot is from the Zhytomyr region.
This pot has attractive features: this vessel was made a long time ago and from a very coarse rough material of clay. It has thick walls. In Ukraine, such clay dishes are called "pasochnyk" - it was used by housewives as a form for baking - "paska" - Easter cake for Easter.
Pottery culture has been very developed in Ukraine since ancient times.
The Cucuteni–Trypillia culture is a great proof of that.
Pottery is still used for its intended purpose in Ukrainian villages. And Ukrainian families serve the table with pottery for Christmas, Easter, and other holidays.
Traditions have survived to this day. Each region has its pottery workshops and its selling unique style.
Unique is the old pottery, which was made and used in the 1910s - 1930s or even earlier. Of course, such utensils have signs of use and time, but this is its charm.
Look at the pictures carefully.
Note: the vessel is ANCIENT.
