Product code: Inuit made selling Alaskan Ulu
Alaskan made Ulu (Alaska fish knife). This is pronounced, "ooloo." This is vintage, made of forged steel. I purchased it in the 1960s and have actually used it once or twice to try it out before adding it to my selling collection. Early ulus were often made of sharpened stone with fossilized ivory or wooden handles. This Ulu is etched with the face of an Alaskan husky. The husky dog is often pictured as a part of a dog team, known for historically pulling a sled.
Traditionally, the Ulu was usually made by women of the tribe and used to skin hides as well as butcher meat. Today, it has become a popular culinary tool used by many.
