Product code: 1930s Art Deco Jakob Bengel Galilith/French Bakelite and Glass Necklace, selling 17.5
This industrial-style, Art Deco-era necklace was made by Jakob Bendel in the 1930s, according to its findings, ring clasp with teardrop tab, and distinctive materials. The metal is probably chrome or chrome-plated, and despite its age, the metal is in superb condition. A gorgeous, glowing Czech glass, faceted oval stone is prong-set into a pendant that is overlaid with a piece of pierced, galalith (French bakelite). It is missing a screw on the back of the pendant, but that is minor. The bakelite is pebbled, which would be due to its being kept in heat for an extended period. Or perhaps that was the look that was wanted. Either way, this is a beautiful piece and rare piece for the right collector. Measures 17.5" total. Pendant is 1 3/4" long. selling Stone measures 17mm x 11mm.
