Symbolism and application of the item

This is a very special image of Christ. The legends about this image go back to the beginning of the 4th century. The legend is about the sick king of Edessa who told his servant Chanan to bring Jesus a letter in which he asked Jesus to come and to heal him. He also told his servant to draw the portrait of Jesus in case He could not come and bring this portrait back home. The servant found Jesus in the middle of a big crowd. When Jesus noticed that the servant wanted to draw His portrait, he washed his face and dried it with a headscarf selling, leaving the imprint of His wet face on the material. He asked the servant to bring the scarf and His response to the king. The king was healed from his main illness, and later on, after the visit of one of Jesus apostles, he regained all his health. So, according to the legend, this image has special healing power, healing not only physical but spiritual wounds as well.
