This is a linocut print created from a drawing of Moreton Bay Fig trees.
The limited edition linocut print is hand carved, printed and signed and numbered.
My work is concerned with the simplification and interpretation of various forms, particularly the natural environment. Pattern, line, tone, and the interaction of light and shade are all highlighted.
One of my favourite mediums to work with is printmaking and linocut printing. Working with line, texture, and selling tone, as well as the slow methodical process of hand carving the block prior to printing, inspire me. Lino block printing is an art form in and of itself; each print is unique and has its own personality.
My primary influences are Australian printmakers Margret Preston and Barbara Hanrahan, as well as Japanese printmakers Un'ichi Hiratsuka and the twentieth-century Ssaku-Hanga woodblock print movement ("creative prints").
