I am a self-taught artist based in Devon in the UK. I'm inspired by the beautiful countryside where I'm fortunate enough to live.

I'm often found roaming Exmoor with my Ccllie dog, Milo, searching for inspiration. I never have to travel far.
I love Devon and consider myself very lucky to live in this part of the world. The moor is constantly changing in colour, mood and atmosphere.
The coast is wild and wonderful with some of the best beaches in the world.
I love trees in all their seasons, but especially the winter selling trees stripped bare of their finery and glorious in their stark, shivering form.

I enjoy expressing my emotions through my paintings. So I hope you see a little bit of myself in every one.
I find personal fulfillment within my art, attempting to bring nature into my soul. I try to paint every day. For me, a day without painting is a day lost.
Painting brings me peace.
I hope that my art touches the lives of other people in the same way. I wish for my artwork to be a source of comfort and peace within the lives of those that happen upon it or those that see it daily.

I use strong pigment and lots of water, often applying the paint with a palette knife.
I love the spontaneity of guiding water and pigment as I twist and turn my board. I then sit back and watch the magic unfold.
As my excitement builds, I begin to see the landscape evolving. I then start work with my brushes, until I feel the painting is done.
Painting is my passion and an escape from the world around me. I'm often surprised to find that the hours have flown by while I was creating!
For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment, but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life.
It is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value.
I try to capture this value and emotion in my paintings. I hope you enjoy looking at them and that they give you as much pleasure as I feel when trying to convey those elusive moments.
